Fortress Night is the Chinese version for Fortnite and will close in the latter part of this month.Epic Games, Fortnite's owner, has provided no reasons for closing the online shooter. An announcement indicated that the game, which had been available in China as a test for two years, would cease to be available on 15 Nov.

China places strict limits on how long children can play online games.According to the announcement, new signups for the combat style game last-player-standing were stopped on 1 November. This was two weeks before the planned shut down.
The original launch of the game in China was in 2018, in collaboration with Tencent, China's tech giant. Many Western games have to be modified for China, both for cultural reasons and regulatory reasons.

Fortress Night has many changes to Fortnite. They include measures that limit the amount of time players spend playing the game and have no "microtransactions" where you can buy additional in-game items using real money.China's videogame regulator, in August, announced that children under 18 years old would be restricted from online gaming for an hour on Fridays, Saturdays, and Holidays.

The government is concerned about how much time young people spend online gaming. One example is the earlier labeling of online games by a state media outlet as "spiritual marijuana" in January. Epic Games announced the closure and said: "Thank you Fortnite China players for riding the Battle Bus together by participating in Beta."
